Mace offers a variety of training courses to staff. We have a dedicated Training Team who can plan courses to suit individual needs and interests. Training courses take place either at the nursery or central office. Open Learning materials and resources are available to all.
Training is important to us at Mace as we firmly believe our staff should have the opportunity to improve their qualifications and knowledge while they are employed.
We offer the widest range of training courses available within the childcare industry, which includes NVQs and Modern Apprenticeship Schemes. Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) are a recognised qualification throughout the UK and offer training and development for anyone who wishes to pursue a career in childcare. They are offered to all Mace employees aged 17 – 24. It is an opportunity to earn a salary combined with the opportunity to gain the qualifications and skills that are needed to work within the childcare sector.
By completing an MA, you will work towards NVQ Level III in Early Years Care and Education, as well as completing Key Skills in Communication and Application of Numbers and TEC Certificate.
The Advantaged level should take about 2 years to complete, depending on your individual pace of work and learning.
What Are Key Skills?
Key Skills are what we all use on a day-to-day basis, no matter what industry we work in. They represent the ability to manipulate language, words and numbers and to work constructively with other people.
All staff will be offered the chance to complete an NVQ Programme while working for Mace. This will not only improve your skills, knowledge and qualifications but will give you the opportunity to gain promotion and development.
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)
The NVQ in Early Years is offered to all staff. The NVQ scheme allows you to achieve a qualification while working and gaining valuable experience. To gain an NVQ you need to be able to prove your competence while caring for children in our nurseries. You will be assessed on your practical skills as well as your knowledge and understanding of the tasks being carried out.
Experienced members of staff, who have gained or are working towards their Assessors Awards, can assess NVQs in Nursery.
NVQ Courses available:
NVQ Level III – Early Years Care and Education
For Nursery Assistants with previous experience
NVQ Level IV – Early Years Care and Education
For Nursery Managers
For qualified staff who wish to assess NVQs
Internal Verifiers Award
For experienced Assessors who wish to verify assessments
