The school takes children from 12 weeks through to school age (five) and occupies a large and airy building with a suite of individually designed rooms ranging from that for babies, through toddlers to the early years room. In addition we have a kitchen where meals are cooked and served fresh on the premises every day by our resident chef. There is also a small courtyard for some outside activities although we do also aim to take the children every day to the local park to ensure that they receive adequate daily exercise.

Valerie Peters heads up the teaching and caring team. She has many years’ knowledge and experience in Montessori teaching and caring for young children in a safe and homely environment. If you have any day-to-day issues Aleesha will be happy to answer them.

At Mace Montessori, we aim to provide first class care for your child in a caring, loving environment where each child is treated as an individual. Our professionally qualified staff team work together to ensure that from baby’s early developmental years through to preparation for beginning school, each child is encouraged to realise their full potential through a carefully developed programme that builds confidence and creates opportunities for both educational and social development.

The Nursery is divided into a baby nursery and a pre-school. In the baby nursery, the emphasis is on providing exceptional care, with plenty of opportunities for stimulating and varied play in calm surroundings whilst in the pre-school, whilst recognising that what children primarily need is love and attention, we begin to introduce Montessori teaching (see the section on Montessori on our website for further information on what this entails), interweaving it with the national early years curriculum so that children are given the best possible preparation for starting primary school.
